Software for Calculation of Torsion Bars
Calculation
FED8 calculates displacement angle, torques, shearing
stress, spring operation and sliding for torsion bars in accordance with DIN
2091. Characteristic curves and scale drawings can be displayed graphically and
exported as DXF files to CAD and text editting programs.
Pre-dimensioning
In pre-dimensioning, one torsion force and the
displacement angle are entered, or two torsion forces and the elevation angle
are entered. FED8 then calculates an appropriate torsion bar.
Dimensioning
In dimensioning, FED8 calculates the length of the torsion
bar from the torsion forces, elevation angle and the bar diameter.
Re-calculation
In re-calculation all dimensions for the torsion bar are
entered and the torsion forces and shearing stress for different displacement
angles are calculated.
Printout
The result printout incudes all input and result data. The
excerpt shows the most important spring data, abbreviated, on one page. There is
also a feature for output of a HTML document for Intranet/Internet (with
Netscape or the Internet Explorer). FED8 is equipped with an interface to Excel
for data exchange.
Spring Drawing
FED8 generates scale spring drawings in accordance with
DIN 2091, which can be exported to CAD as DXF or IGES files.
Diagrams
Spring characteristic curves and spring operation are shown as
a diagram on screen. The diagramms can be printed out, or exported to CAD or
text editting programs via DXF and IGES interfaces.
Quick Output
The Quick output allows the characteristic spring curve to
be displayed on one screen along with the most important spring data.
Material Data Base
The characteristic data of the most important spring
materials (tensile strength, perm. shearing stress in relation to bar diameter,
shearing modulus, E-modulus, density) is taken by FED8 from the integrated data
base. The DBF file can be edited and appended by the user.
Help System
You can display a help window for each input value. There
are also auxiliary pictures for each symbol used, and each calculation formula.
FED8 displays warnings when values are exceeded. For each error message you can
display a more detailed description of the error and a remedy suggestion.

FED8 is a 32-bit application for Windows
95, 98, NT, 2000, XP.

pictures, help texts) on 3.5" disk, user manual, input forms, license for
